loading adobe illustrator

My computer is a bit old and the C drive is getting full. I want to start upgrading my skills in Illustrator after spending my time learning SolidWorks and PhotoWorks. Can I load my Illustrator to an external drive or thumb drive and still have it work rather than loading it to the default C drive? And if so how do I do it?

Hi

In my experience Adobe Illustrator is one of the hardest graphics programs for your computer to run.

I've never had problems running Photoshop or InDesign but Illustrator has really dragged down my computer in the past.

Now I have a really, really fast computer with 8 gigs of ram, and for the first time it doesn't seem to slow everything down.

I would suggest that a better solution would be to get an additional internal hard drive. From what I have seen external drives do slow things down quite a bit, even firewire.
