I am having a heck of a time trying to load acronis images onto virtual machines, I continually get the "archive is corrupted" error with every image I try and load (these are spanned images on a hard disk that have worked on physical machines). Has anyone had any success with this? I am trying to setup a virtual lab with our enviroment as it was a while ago but this is simply destroying my efforts.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well I settled on just imaging a machine and using the p2v utility.. This seemed to work, if any of you have had success with using Acronis images on VM please let me know. Thanks

Cstorm,

For being able to use Acronis you need to use P2V Assistant. This is a tool that you need to use before powering up the VM otherwise you'll get errors.

Now a days you can use VMware Converter incombination with a 3rd party tool (Ghost 9 or higher / Backup Exec).
Make an image with one of these tool and then convert it with VMware Converter. VMware converter is a free tool that you can download from VMware.

There is a product called PowerConvert from PlateSpin. While the software can be costly, it does P2V's, V2V's and offers a variety of imaging solutions. PowerConvert does a tremendous amount of work in the P2V process seemlessly. The cost of the software may pay for itself in the time it saves.
