I Downloaded a font called Prague LET Plain1.0.ttf
from:
then installed it by doing:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Type the following command, %windir%\fonts and then click OK:
3. On the File menu, click Install New Font.
4. In the Drives box, click the drive that contains the font that you want to add.
In the Folders box, click the folder that contains the font that you want to add, and then click OK.
5. In the List of fonts box, click the font that you want to add.
6. Click to select the Copy Fonts To Fonts Folder check box. The new font is saved in the Windows\Fonts folder.
7. Click OK.

Now I open a Word document highlight some text and click the font dropdown but I don’t see my newly installed font.
The font does however appear in the folder C:\WINDOWS\Fonts

Long ago I successfully installed a new font but it seems I’ve forgotten something!

Any help gratefully accepted.
Sam

Addendum:
I'm using XP sp3 all latest updates
MS Office Professional Word 2003

Did you reload your application or reboot?

Skip,

for a NUANCE![tongue][/sub]

Yes I did reload MS Word (no help) but didn't reboot, I will now.

After a reboot (no help)

N.B. I see 207 fonts with windows explorer in folder c:\windows\fonts
but the DDLB in MS Word only shows 112 choices. Don't know why but it looks suspicious.

Some fonts use more than one file to store styles, so there may be a difference in a number of fonts and font files.
The font you have installed has only capitalics, can you see P----- LET (where "-" is an empty box) in the fonts list? Can you see the suggested font name when you start to write font name in the DDLB? Can you customise commandbars and add a font ("commands" tab, "fonts" category)?

Can you also confirm which printer you have set as default?

Well hello combo

That was one helluva catch; I did see "P----- LET" in the DDLB, choose it and it works great. It's a weird font that has no lower case.
Everything works great but I wanted to try changing the name from:
"P----- LET" to "PRAGUE"

I changed the downloaded fontfile name from:
Prague LET Plain1.0.ttf to PRAGUE.ttf then reloaded the font.

I now see Prague in the c:\windows\font folder but my msWord DDLB still says "P----- LET". .....Who cares it works....!

Have a splat and thanks a heap

converting the font to a .dfont

I see the utility does the following:
Converter converts fonts to/from: .pdf .dfont .eot .otf .pfb .tfm .pfm .suit .svg .ttf .pfa .bin .pt3 .ps .t42 .cff .afm .ttc & .woff

I'm not al all familiar with .dfont but I will certainly give it a try.

Thanks

Sam

It might be worth pointing out that this is NOT a free font, no matter what the source website is claiming. It is a Letraset licensed font designed by Michael Gills for which you are supposed to pay a licence fee. Heck, they've even left the Letraset copyright notice in the font file.

In word one can change the default font names display style with those fonts, however the price is lack of font preview in fonts list (customise toolbars, options tab).
If it's in line with font license, you can change internal font name and other features with TTFEdit ( change Font Name and Font Family.

Hi strongm

Thanks for pointing that out, I do hate it when people do a lot of work and don't get paid but I'm a bit confused if you're referring to the font I downloaded from:

I see the words FREE Fonts at least 6 times along with a [support us with Paypal] button and the following:

Disclaimer: We are checking periodically that all the fonts which can be downloaded from FontPalace.com are either shareware, freeware or come under an open source license. If you find any fonts on our website that are not come under aforementioned types, please Report copyright violation immediately.

Is this font really NOT free?
Thanks
Sam

OK strongm I agree.

I'll be happy to report that I found what appears to be a shortened version of the "Prague" PC font for free at:

I found the following site with help of a PC forum colleague,(that would be you) where I see a full version of the "Prague" font for £27.21.

The problem is I can't seem to find an e-Address where I can report/inquire about the validity of the short "free" version of "Prague"

For now I will refrain from using the "free" font.
Do you by chance have an eAddress for someone at
Thanks
Stu

Can you confirm that the above "free" font is your property and is illegal to use?
