Loaded XP pro and a:\ drive quit working!

I loaded WIN XP pro on a new hard drive (after a hard drive crash with XP Home upgrade) and now my single a:\ drive will not read floppies! It says my disks are not formatted. When I try to format, it says it cannot format them. I checked bios set-up and I bought a new floppy --- same symptoms. Any ideas?

Check your cable orientation. Will the computer boot from a floppy?

I didn't try to boot from floppy after this problem appeared.

I uninstalled the device and the controller and shut down. While shut down, I replaced the floppy cable. After rebooting, it works again. Boy, am I "rusty" on troubleshooting. Thanks for the reply. daldous
