I have just loaded oracle reports on my pc where I also have crystal 9 and lots of reports I have developed and I also use Toad to browse the databases and play with sql.
After loading oracle 6i reports, I noticed that none of my previously set up odbc connections were working in Toad or crystal.
I connect to several types of databases, but mostly oracle 8 and 9.
I had installed reports as a branch off the existing oracle path. It was suggested that I copy the tnsnames file from the original oracle path over to the new path. I did this and it seemed to remedy some of the problems. Toad is now connecting fine. One of my oracle datasources is now accessable via crystal, but a couple of the others still give errors like: server rejected connection.
Anyone seen this before?

Sounds like the SQLNET.ORA and/or TNSNAMES.ORA files were modified, or perhaps the actual ODBC settings were changed.

Yes, tnsnames and more!
Here is what I did incorrectly: Instead of installing the reports in a totally separate directory from my original oracle 8i client stuff , I installed it just inside the main 'oracle' folder. Bad move. I had been using some of the Oracle ODBC drivers in some of my crystal reports.
We moved the reports folder outside of oracle, reinstalled 8i and crystal is connecting fine now.
I was really excited about learning oracle reports; now I am not so sure! :)
Thanks for the suggestion sv.
