I'm running W9x on all my stations, Novell 3.12, and some rather large clipper 5.2e exe's.

The clipper apps run fine, the windows apps run fine, but when they are loaded together, the file open lookup routine in MS apps very noticeably slows down.

In my config.sys I've got:

device=c:\windows\himem.sys
device=c:\windows\emm386.exe
dos=high,umb
files=120
buffers=32,0

My clipper app icon is set to allocate memory from all areas "auto"matically, disable in background, and allow screen printing. Fast pasting is off.

The systems vary from Pent 166 to PIII 466.

Any help? or additional information requirements would be appreciated.

Thanks,

- Vaughn
cheech@roseam.com

The function INKEY() in Clipper 5.0 hogs memory cycles. I'm
not sure if this holds also with 5.2 but it's worth a look.
If so, try some of the fixes/libs in Oasis net.

I have a fix for Clipper hogging the processor
E-mail me at pck@tokleyhiggs.freeserve.co.uk with
"Clipper NT fix" in the subject and I'll sent it to you.
