Hope someone can help! I have seven ELU32 boards in a system and would like to get load sharing to work. So, for example, if I have 100 IP phones they need to load share across these seven boards. Can someone please tell me what needs to be set up to do this?

Any examples of these?

Load Sharing
Setup a domain name to the ELU32 and a Gatekeeper Id
Then setup TMLOAD to 10 (as example)
You must setup a Gatekkeper discovery=YES and the gatekeeprID and the domain name in the d4-config.txt file.
Be aware that your network must be able to proceed the multicast from the Ipphone to the ELU32 and backward.

you gave the answser yourself...
gatekeeper discovery is not a must for load sharing.

IPGDI:LIM=1,DOMAIN=yourcompany.com;

IPGKC:LIM=1,TMLOAD=10;

setup domain name and primary gatekeeper IP address in config file ...

greetings,

Daddy

Hi whosrdaddy

I thought that load sharing need automatic gatekeeper discovery?
I you set a fix gatekeeper Ip adress in the config file, how could the phones be registered on the all ELU32 that belongs to the domain?

No you don't need AGK discovery. I have this working without AGK discovery (I have many sites where multicasts are not allowed). The only confusing term here i s the "entry" gatekeeper. I found out that this in fact the first ELU32 in the domain(LIM). I use that IP address in the config file and it works like a charm.

3.4 Load distribution
The Load Distribution procedure makes it possible to distribute the registrations evenly in the system, i.e., the registrations will be distributed depending on the gatekeepers free capacity, trying to keep the same registrations load in every gatekeeper.

An Ericsson IP terminal must be used for this procedure. This IP terminal must know the name of the network domain it belongs to and the IP address of an entry gatekeeper.

To get the Load Distribution procedure in the ASB 501 04 to work, the following requirements should be complied with:

A special gatekeeper, called the entry gatekeeper, in charge of carrying out the Load Distribution procedure, must be set by means of a command.
All the gatekeepers must be set up with the network domains they will serve. These network domains must be the ones where there are Ericsson IP terminals that will request registration in the ASB 501 04. Any given gatekeeper may serve a number of network domains. Any given network domain may be served by a number of gatekeepers. It is important to remark that when the Load distribution procedure is active, if a gatekeeper has no domains initiated, this gatekeeper will not be used by the Load distribution procedure and consequently no Ericsson IP terminal using Load Distribution (those terminals sending their networks domain names) will be registered in it.
When the Load distribution procedure is used, terminals will first try to register in an entry gatekeeper. This entry gatekeeper will find out by an internal broadcast query which is the ELU32 board with the most unused capacity of those which serve the network domain of the IP extension.

Hi,
Thanks for the info...can you tell me where this is done and which command will execute it?
"A special gatekeeper, called the entry gatekeeper, in charge of carrying out the Load Distribution procedure, must be set by means of a command."

Also how does the system know what boards belong to what? If I have lets say three boards in LIM1, three boards in LIM 4 and 5 boards in LIM7. I would have thought you would have grouped them or am I missing something?

Can you please elaborate in simple terms?

Thanks.

if you read my post carefully, you saw I said that the entry gatekeeper is the first ELU32 of the Domain / LIM.

domains can be setup per lim (IPGDI command, see my first post)

so if you have 3 lims and you only have one domain, you give the same domain name to all 3 lims,then the first ELU32 of the first lim in the domain will be entry gatekeeper in your case that would be LIM1).
