Load Image into Memory

I'm looking for a way to Load an Image into memory. I Need to have a button so that the user can click browse, then select an image on his/her hard drive, then load that image into memory via PHP so that I can display it and manipulate it furthur.

Any Ideas?

Do you mean so the user can "load it into memory" on his own PC ?, if so you will have to use the command line interface not a web interface.
Dependingon what you mean by manipuation, for example upload an image and resize it. You can use the gd or imagemagik library commands.
