Hi there.

I'm so inexperienced in coding, it's embarrassing!!!

I am using VWDE as a means to allow users to load an image from their own machine's directory into an image control, without having to store the image in any back-end database (i.e. directly from their machine). An example would be when loading photos into a greetings card, like Moonpig, etc.

I've tried some half-baked solution using the FileUpload control, but got nowhere with that.

I'm using vb code behind.

I would really appreciate any guidance on this.

A million thanks in advance.

it's a webapp which means the server and client are completely separate. the server does not have access to the client's machine and vice versa.

if you want to access a file on the user's machine, the user will need to upload the file to the server. the server could then use this file however it chooses.

Hi Jason

Thanks very much for letting me know. I'll take a look at the links you kindly provided.

Many thanks.

are you referring to the FAQ links in my signature? they don't have anything to do with this. they are just part of my signature.

for example of uploading a file google "webforms file upload control".
