Listen,

In using a router with 4 T1 links, I need to load balance traffic between them. My scheme uses static routes thru them but my question is>

Should it be better using process or fast switching ?
What's needed to activate the latter and the former (i.e. ip cef)?

Best regards,

You can utilise CEF. You have fast switching by default enabled on those interfaces. If you want, you can even bundle the 4 links into 1 using PPP multilink.

Mmm,

Taking on your comment, using Multilink PPP wouldn't be a somewhat processor intensive?
If you or someone else have had any experience using MP and can tell CPU usage samples might be excellent. This as to define a way to go into.

Best regards,

Fire up "ip cef" and apply "no ip route-cache" on the serial interfaces

I thought ip cef and fast-switching worked together, don't they? What would make the difference in doing what you suggest?

Best regards,
