Hi,
We have sp nodes with 2 ethernet cards, I want to configure these cards for load balancing with using DNS (round robin)
I connect to each nic different network and give different IP address. And configured dns for both ip addresses for same hostname, when pinged from clients each of ip address replyies, but after down one of nic i cant get any reply, i cant configure routing, i have to give a routing entry for defualt gateway for both interfaces but i cant. How can i solve this problem?
1st Nic Address : 100.100.32.63 network : 100.100.32.0
2nd Nic Address : 20.12.1.63 network : 20.12.0.0
Bektas,

I would imagine that DNS is returning the IP address of the downed NIC -- is that correct?

Sounds like you're trying to go for something like High Availability, but I'm not sure that this is the way to achieve this.

If it is DNS returning the downed IP address you *could* force a change in DNS so that the host has only one NIC.

Or -- I might have completely the wrong idea!
Mike
michael.j.lacey@ntlworld.com
<a href= Cargill's Corporate Web Site
Yes it is correct. This is not actual high availability, during the first ethernet card fail I want to continue communication over second ethernet card after one fail. I can solve this issue with some routing trickky bu i cant find!
