Load Balance SQL 2000 Ent

We have two SQL servers that have identical db's that we are trying to load balance. It looks like we have them set up correctly on the load balancer server running 2003 Ent Server. However, one issue is that we are getting a message that pops up saying that there is an ip conflict, and the second is that we were hoping that we could connect via enterprise manager to the virtual IP of the load balancing server and connect to one of the SQL servers. Is that possible? If so, how do we set it up?

You want to connect to a random server with Enterprise Manager? I don't understand what the point would be. What you're saying makes sense in the context of regular, failover clustering, but not in a load-balancing cluster. In the latter, all administration connections would be made directly, not to the virtual address.

As far as the IP conflict: it DOESN'T look like they've been set up right. That's why you're getting an error. So what do you think you are right about, getting an error, or having set things up right? If you need help with the error, you'll need to tell us how you configured the different interfaces on the nodes.

Does the IP conflict seem to actually affect any functionality? Does it disable any interfaces?

Sorry if I sound crabby: I slept on the office couch last night.
