I tried installing linux for windows. But it always gives me an error when it tries to format the img file or whatever... ALWAYS!
I'm trying to install off of Mandrake 8.0 PowerPack Edition.
It says something about not being able to create loopback file...
Anyways, I'm running windows 98 SE, with one hardrive, two partitions. Both partitions are fat32.

Also, more information about linux for windows would be very nice...
I want something that I can start in windows, whenever the heck I feel like it.

Hi,

Where did you tell Mandrake to install ? Ordinarily, you would install Linux into its' own partition and that partition would be formatted with the ext2 filesystem. Maybe it was just saying it had no free space it could use on that drive.

If I undertsand you correctly, you would probably be better off looking at a specialsied distribution like winlinux --> . That is specifically designed to be installed onto an existing fat partition - it just creates a folder called 'Linux' and puts everything in there.
