Does anyone know what this pertains to. I have a G3 PPN SCC cabinet that I acquired from another office. Unfortunately, Two pins behind the tape drive have broke off. Now when it powers up it gives a LMM SPE Down error and does a Reset system 4. It gets stuck in this loop forever. It is a older processor pack with a (286) with 2 additional cards for the memory. I am thinking if I replace it with a TN790 with onboard memory and a new Translation Card pack, I would elimanate the tape drive? What are you thoughts.

You are correct , you can change the control section of the carrier with the processor, network control card with Flash card memory which would replace the tape drive.
I had done few conversion of a tape drive system to Flash Memory system, & it works pretty well(it is 2-2.5 hrs Job).

However, have you looked at the othre pins in the cabinet, I also experianced a similar problem where 2 PINs were bent
& styarted giving me level 4 restart & finally when I checked the system it was found to be the PINs on the mother board , You can open the mother board of the carrier & check for all ohther pins also, Sometime the Power supply PINs might give you the same problem. You need to spend some time to open the cabinet & look out for the broken or bent PINs, If you see any broken PINs at the mother board, make them staright so that the board can insert in the slot(You can use a ball pen 'refill' to strighten the bent pins, this is the fastest & easiest method to straightened
the PINs).

Best of luck.

Let me know if this solves the problem.

Thanks Definity. I did take apart the motherboard and found over 20 pins bent and/or broken off. Thus, I am working with FedEx on recieving the insurance money for the carrier. I hope that goes well. The funny item is that only the pinse behind the memory slot and the tape drive are bent. So theoretically I could put a new proc w/ a pmcia memory card and still have the cabinet work.
