LMHOST file not being read on Win98

Hi Guys
Trying to connect remotely through a VPN tunnel to a SQL Server and PDC fron a remote Win98 machine connected to ISP by a USB ADSL modem.
VPN is no problem I can use VNC etc I can connect to a share on the PDC use IP address BUT my LMHOSTS file is not being read ie NBTSTAT -c gives me no cache.
How do I force the file to be used.
Other machine which are on a small LAN at another site work greatin all respects.

OK so I will answer my own question.

My problem was that I had not added a "carriage return" at the end of the LMHOSTS file.

THIS IS REQUIRED TO PARSE the file
