I need to be able to distribute a updated LMHOST File to remote users and install it with little user intervetion. I was thinking of emailing a batch file to my users but i think OUTLOOK would block it, possibly a script. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks

You could get around the email blocking issue simply by distributing the batch file inside a zip file.

Depending on how remote users log on you could distribute it in a login script via group policy.

In an LMHOSTS file you can use the INCLUDE instruction:

----------------------------------------------------
# Specifying "#INCLUDE <filename>" will force the RFC NetBIOS (NBT)
# software to seek the specified <filename> and parse it as if it were
# local. <filename> is generally a UNC-based name, allowing a
# centralized lmhosts file to be maintained on a server.
-----------------------------------------------------

Example on \\MyServer, I have shared to EVERYONE a Folder called LMHOSTS, which contains a file called LMHOSTS:

#INCLUDE \\MyServer\LMHOSTS\LMHOSTS

Best,

From precvious experience, I would try and avoid LMHOSTS unless absolutely necessary.. It will only come back and bite you in the future!!
