Hey gang. I've got a LaserJet 8100 DN with trays 2 and 3 in pretty bad shape. They will not close all the way and "lock" shut. Instead, they protrude about 1/2 inch outside the drawer housing. You can push them in all the way and feel the light force of the spring pushing back, but they will not lock shut.

From basic troubleshooting, I have confirmed that it is not an issue with the drawers. On the back of each drawer, it looks like there is a "male" connector (white plastic) that mates with a "female" (black plastic) socket in the back right corner.

I think the issue is with the socket. For some reason, it will not catch the drawer. Is this something I can fix, or do I need to call in the HP techs? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

We have a W.A. Fischer printing in the town that I live... if that's you, I can stop by and look.

No sir - that's not me. Thanks for the offer, though!
