Hi
I have a few Questions.
We have at the moment 1 Networker Server
Name: bwbckse1zhh
OS: Red Hat ES3
Networker: 7.4.1
This "Networker Server" Backups "Dedicated Storage Nodes" from 2 ComputerCenters

Now we would like to have a second Networker Server in Passive Mode (Networker installed but not startet)

My idee to handle this was:
First install a Licence Manager and move all the Licence to the Manager.
To do this we must have for every Licence a new auth code. Is that correct ?

Than install a second Networker Server in the other Computercenter.
Name: zhbsubnp-se0001
OS: Red Hat ES5
Networker: 7.4.1
Then configure a rsync that syncs the /nsr from the 2 Networker Server every 5 Minute.

On all Networker Clients or Dedicated Storage Node
in the File /nsr/res/servers i make the following changes
bwbckse1zhh
zhbsubnp-se0001

When the Networker Server (bwbckse1zhh) crashes i start the networker on the second Networker Server (zhbsubnp-se0001) and i can continue with backups or restore. i loose the backup that ware made since the last rsync runs nothing more.
Will that work that way?
how many Networker Server Licence to i need (the primary Backup Server need the Server licence from the Licence manager when this server crashes and the second Networker Server was startet he needs also a Server licens. Can he use the Server Licence from the First? )
How many Dedicated Storage Node licence to i need? the same number as now or double?

Thanks for your help

It would probably work, if the first server is idle. But if it is active i expect some inconsistencies. And License Manager is not even necessary.

For an easy 'failover' i would recommend:
- name the target host the same
- install NW on the target host
- in case of a failure, use the standard NW DR routine (mmrecov) and recover the bootstrap
This should not take too long and you are ready run new backups. Recover the rest later. Keep it simple.
