Hi

we have a 9.7.1 install of livelink and would like to add an additional external storage provider.

We have added the UNC path to the storage provider and i would now like to add a rule.

the rule i would like is if the category archive is set to true, move the doc/folder to the additional storage provider.

this works fine if i add a new document to the folder and set the category when the document is added. however i want to be able to have the category set on the document and then change it to true/yes and the doc moes to the archieve area.

i can find no way of doing this? is this something i am doing wrong or is there another way?

any help/pointers useful

thanks

richard

This is because the storage rule is evaluated when the "Create" happens. When you set the category after the fact that the document is already on the storage provider so the rule is not evalauated again. However you have many options here.

1)Use of Content Move module.I beleive you can configure content move with some kind of a state engine(if some state x,or y).Livelink uses a agent to search for those nodes meeting the criteria and moving them appropriately.Used to save expensive disk space usually.
2)Use of Records Managment module and a RM disposition search.Again the concept is similar. You find the Records that meet certain criteria, use Disp Serach to do a different cation, the rules will be evaluated again.
3)Since both the above modules are built with oscript there should be plenty of reusable code in those modules that you can debug and repurpose.

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?
