Hi, I am new at the forum and currently I am using LL as simple user and sometimes I try simple troubleshooting. I am working as IT administrator.

Well, I run a 4.8.6.384 LL explorer and during the setup I face the following issue:

After I give the name and the link of the server, I am asked to put username and password. When I do this I receive an error saying "could not connect to the server... Error+[0x80040218]

I tried to install it again, i reset all IE settings just in case, I uninstalled the antivirus, firewall is disabled. All the usernames and password giving me this error.

On the same computer I logged in to windows with a different account. In that case it is working perfect. So I am wondering what would cause this error especially in that windows account?

Thanks in advance

Yes the explorer piece is a client that talks to the livelink which is the server.uses lapi for communication. If one windows user cannot make it work perhaps the user cannot hist livelink(imposed by Windows aauthntication, livelink dir svcs) but you can test that by enabling clinet logging and asking for opentext support help.

many companies employ Livelink Dir Svcs which is an extension to IWA which is standard Microsoft Technology. When the windows user logged in makes the call if he/she is not allowed to hit the webserver problems could occur.Logging willtell you conclusiveluy if livelink is rejecting the user or the webserver.

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

Finally I solved this issue by recreating the windows user profile. Restart windows, log in as local admin, rename the usr's account , log in again as user and copy all his files, documents, favorites and the nk2 file.
