Hello,

From the Oracle perspective, can anyone please detail recommended Oracle changes to optimize the performance of LiveLink in Oracle9i.

Note: I do not have access to the LiveLink site so links to their help files are not useable for me at this time.

Thanks very much,

Micheal,
I'd strongly suggests getting access to the opentext website as there is plenty of material and discussion items concerning performance there.

Performance tuning is a grey area and both LL and Oracle provide specialist courses/tools to do this. It really depends on what your infrastrucutre and usage profile of Livelink is.

Here are some generic ideas, I'll include the links to the KC so that when you get access you'll be able to read the details :

1. Use RULE based (
2. Use external rather than internal storage.

3. Use the JSP servelet rather than the CGI/ISAPI dll

4. Ensure that your OS, DB etc are running the latest patches.

5. Use the WANTSUMMARYTIMINGS option in OpenText.ini to get detailed timings in your logs.

6. Use the Performance Monitoring/Analysis tools from OpenText to get a better handle on your environment (
7. Attend the Performance Tuning Livelink course (
As I've said above, tuning depends a huge amount on your specific environment and usage profile, this drives the architecture, no. of threads, scaling options, DB changes/hacks etc. If you can provide some more detail on that we may be able to give you more specific answers.

ggriffit ,

Thanks for posting - that is very useful. :)
