Hello,

We are implementing a livelink system that calls for a F5 load balancer for the two App servers. Admin and DB servers are not load balanced. We've got a working POC, but some annoyances remain. Can anyone recommend links, or sources for either a specific F5/Livelink install or a generic hardware load balancer and Livelink installation?

Thanks.

A IE6 client will be prompted to reauthenticate. We can see that the app server issues a request to the DB server but that request fails with a generic Oracle TNS message. If the user hits refresh, the prompt will go away and the request is granted.

I'd also be interested in talking with someone about the overall design/configuration when a F5 load balancer is present.

Some things ,if the livelink app servers are on windows so that both servers are looking at the same tnsname.ora file consider using a TNS_ADMIN variable

The OTHOME on the ini files on all installs should be the same. For eg if you installed ll on one machine as

c:\OpenText and on another as c:\opentext for windows and ll it is not a problem. But OT uses the OTHOME variable to generate the cookie so if they are not the same you will be asked to re-authenticate.You can also set the cookie to use the same string in the GUI as well.

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?

Justa thing I rememebered I was using F5 LB
and also the OpenText Knowlege base is also behind a F5 LB.
I have also used Cisco local director with LL and that too worked without much problems
