Hi Guys,
Wanted to know if Live Upgrade is feasable for applying patches?
If yes, any tips please.

Hi Djr111,
The problem is we apply patches once every 6 months and some systems take abt 4 hours for this process, we hope to reduce the downtime by using LU.

in my last company, we use to do this

We would split each drive into half. the normal OS is running on c1t0d0s0, but down the line, we would live upgrade to c1t0d0s3, then months later back to c1t0d0s0. I'm assuming this is what you are wanting to do. If so, live upgrade works just great for that, we did this process for a couple of years and it seem to work just fine, and as you said it did reduce downtime

Yes djr111,
This is what i presume we will de doing too.
Any help on how exactly to do this will be really helpful, i am at sea when it comes to LU. Please help

try this doc, I know it is alot, you just need to seperate out what you need to do. LU has alot of options, take your time to review

first figure out if you want to use the commandline or gui, since you are new to it, I would suggest using the gui interface. if you use the gui, then look for the sections called character interface this is the lingo for it

the basic thing you need to do is:
1) of course have disk space to do LU
2) create a boot environment *creates your new environment
3)activate the boot environment *switches over to your new env

step 2 will take a while so there is an option to set it as an 'at' job so it can run at a different time that may be better for the system.

read the doc from head to toe just to familiarize yourself as much as possible. It really is not very hard.
