I have a recurring problem with Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Small Business Edition 12.1, running on Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2. When I initially installed SEPM, Live Update was working properly, but after a few weeks it started showing that it had failed. The exact message was "Error: Live Update encountered one or more errors. Return Code = 4." I went through the troubleshooting on the Symantec site for this error - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH103112. None of the specific items listed (proxy server, IE Enhanced Security, etc.) was applicable. I tried re-registering SEPM with Live Update and that didn't help. Finally I uninstalled and reinstalled Live Update. This worked for a while, but now I'm having the same issue again. I have again uninstalled and reinstalled Live Update, and it's working, but I don't want to have to go through that process every few weeks.
Has anyone else run into this type of problem with SEP SBE, and, if so, have you found a solution? Before installing SEP 12.1 SBE we were running SEP 11, the Enterprise version, not SBE, and had no problems.
