Hey everyone, I run a bar down here in Panama City Beach, Florida and we just recently went to the Aloha POS. I am trying to catch some employees in the act of undercharging at the bar, is there any way I can see what is being rung up on a certain register at the time it is? This way I can watch the camera to have the person ringing it up then see on my server what he actually rang up.

Thanks,
Russ

Easiest and probably most expensive way would be to integrate cameras with the Alohaspy function, but it does exactly what you are looking for. It creates an overlay of the screen with the exact items being rung up in realtime. Not sure of prices and all the compatible companies, but I'm sure others here have had some experience with it.

You can also run some audit reports and look for No Sales. Unless they are leaving the drawer hanging open that should be a red flag. The thing about catching theives is they are greedy and they will want to take more and more once they find it is easy. Run some sales reports for the same period during the week with different employees running the til and you will see marked differences there if the problem is bad. You can also make the system prompt for no sale reason, this alone should slow them down. Make them close the drawer after every sale as well...

Alohaspy works really well to. I have one of those systems in my area and it is great. He caught two bartenders inside of two months after putting the system in.

Russ,

The problem with what you want to do is that bartenders don't do things in order - 1) take the order from customer, 2) enter order into POS, 3) make drinks, 4) serve drinks. They do these steps out of order, especially when it's busy. In my opinion, it is impossible to find out what was NOT rung up with the POS system alone. You need additional tools. The InSight Commander system addresses these needs. Ask your Aloha dealer about this - they probably sell it.
