I am pretty new to the Avaya side of things. The Nortel phones had a feature called "Live Dialpad" The Live Dialpad option activates the Primary DN key when you make a
call by dialing a directory number on the dialpad without picking up the handset or pressing the handsfree key.
Or if you did not have it turned on, it would display what you were dialing and then dial it once you picked up the handset (Predial mode). Do the 9608 phones have a feature similar to this?

The 9608 have an Edit Dial function, allowing you to enter the digits before getting dial tone. Using the Speaker, Headset or handset would then dial the number.

You turn it on via the phone: Home / Options & Settings / Call Settings / Edit Dialing.

You can also change the 46xxsettings to enable or disable the feature: Provide_Edited_Dialing.

So if both options are enabled on the CM.
