Little challenge with OpenOffice on my XP Machine...

I want to play a Powerpoint Presentaion created with MSOffice (2K) but now that i have Open Office installed the file/link comes up as a template instead of a show. (a .ppt instead of a .pps and playing) Even when saved as a OpenOffice Show it opens as a template./ Help....
 
I saw this comment, I don't know if you can make any use of it?

"Export to PDF and then using Adobe Acrobat Reader is probably the better choice, since it has better navigability (Acrobat Reader has quite decent support for running presentations; check out full screen mode). Now, if Export to PDF only created thumbnails ..."
