Version6 Great Plains

We are implementing a new test environment for upgrading Great Plains. I need to set up the testing system with all the users and their shortcuts that they have. We have a lot of customizations in reports and programs so we have a lot to test. We run crystal reports etc from the Great Plains shortcut bar and other than sitting at the users system and writing down all the shortcuts and the files they point to is there somewhere in the setup of great plains or a file that i can get all this information from.

Thanks
Mark

All the shortcut information is stored in the SY01900 table in the DYNAMICS database.

Thanks for much. It was actually in the sy01990 but you got me going in the right direction, I found it easily and you saved me hours of work. Thanks so very very much. I can do a crystal report on this and have it for my records and I can just copy over the data file sy01990 to the test system which should then populate each users shortcut bar in the test system. WOW, the hours you saved me.

Meantime, if I may be so bold as to ask you one more question please. I need to set up all of the users in the new system and I am sure you know that you need to set up each one individually. There is no copy button but you can only assign rights to user classes and place users in the classes. Then all would have the same rights and windows etc. However, we are highly customized and what we may allow one person in A/R to view/edit may not be something we want another uesr in A/R to view/edit. Would you happen to know the data file that would keep everyones rights where I could copy that to the test system and then would not have to spend hours setting up each individual users rights etc.

Thanks again for you help. It is highly appreciated.

Sorry about the typo. The user security table is the SY02000 table which contains each user's specific security. As long as you setup the User ID and the User Class ID to be identical, you shouldn't have any issues.

If you use Advanced Security, it's much easier to remove windows etc. from specific users.

If you are setting up a test environment, you could copy the backup files from the live server onto the test server and restore and you would have all the data. You could then copy the sql logins either by using the Microsoft tool or using the sql server "copy database" wizard which will also copy the sql logins to the new server.

Thanks so much Luvsql
Appreciate your time and effort in saving me time and effort :)
