listing nearest dates in group footer crystal reports

Hi

I am trying at the moment to list the nearest committee date to an expiry date in crystal reports.

I have a list of applications with expiry dates and a list of committee dates. What i am try to do is find the nearest date in the committee date list that is less than the exiry date.

I have tried using running totals but I am getting dates after the expiry date. any help would be wonderful

If you use a record selection formula like this:

{table.committeedate} < {table.expirydate}

Then you can go to report->selection formula->GROUP and enter:

{table.committeedate} = maximum({table.committeedate},{table.application})

...assuming a group on {table.application}.
