On some of our systems there are directories that when you do a "lf" the files will display in columns across the page and then down. But they also have some directories that when you do a "lf" it displays the files in one long column. Is there a default command that can be used to set all of the directories the same way?

Any help would be appreciated.

The directories aren't "setup".

I suspect instead that what you have is a directory with an execessively long file name or two ?

the directories that I have the problem with are 3 letters and the filenames are not that long. The names will list across the screen in my office in all directories and they are the same files and directories in each of my locations. Each location seems to have different directories that will not list across the screen which makes me think it might have something to do with permissions??? Just a thought! but I can't find any information on what to do to make the change.

check for any "aliases" on the systems giving you troubles. Also you could check for the evironment variable COLUMNS.

Are you running a straight telnet session or an X session?
Are these systems all the same version of SCO? which version?
