I have instaleld in our office windows2000 server as a sound server with media server so the sound stred is with extention *.asx. i want to listen to it on my RedHat 7.3 desktop with MMX with no success i have searched the freshmeat.net for "asx" with no result ???!!! is "*.asx" format unsupported by Linux's programmes?

Thanks in advance ;).

I don't have an address for an .asx stream, so can't test this out. But several messages found via Google claim it works. "mplayer" is the program used. You can find it at:

ok, I don't know about viewing them on linux, but an asx is just a text file with a link to an asf anyway, so maybe you could try downloading that (unless it's a live stream). cya
