Hi

I've been asked about the possibility of listing the applications running on a given list of PCs/Servers.

I've been searching the internet generally and Tek-Tips specifically for a (vb)script that will do this but not had much luck.

I know there's likely to be an issue with defining what is an application aagainst what is just a task or process but this solution can be just a 'quick and dirty' one rather than a perfect one.

Can someone give me some pointers, please?

What if you use Win32_Process to get the processes and then only look at those that have an ExecutablePath...the path might help tell what application this process is for?

Well, it's a thought, although it's not likely to save us much time. In fact, we've decided to do it manually after all...

Cheers, dm4ever.

But which one?

(Follow the link you've pasted above, and you'll see why I'm asking.)

Whoops... sorry about that

Form the link I gave, click "Applications", then "Client Applications", then "List All Installed Software".

That's the script I meant to link to.

I was going to suggest Win32_Product but seeing how JPJeffery said PCs/Servers...on Win2k3 this class is not installed by default. Win32_Process would be the only class to get you class to getting "running applications" as you mentioned in your original post.
