Uploaded a report that uses a Cascading Parameter. Without that parameter involved, the report runs fine. As soon as I add the parameter and resave, I get the following error:

CrystalReportViewer

List of Values failure: fail to get values. [Cause of error: startJavaServer Fail to start Java Server]

Unable to retrieve Object.
List of Values failure: fail to get values. [Cause of error: startJavaServer Fail to start Java Server]

I am using .NET, not Java.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I have the same problem. Here is what I found.

The dynamic parameters function of Crystal Reports XI calls sun's java.exe. You will get the above error if anyone of the following takes palce.

1. The windows, or third party, firewall is preventing java.exe from talking to your business objects server.
2. Your on-access antivirus scanner takes a long time to scan java.exe and other supporting files.

I had both problems.
Resolution:
1. Configure your firewall to allow the java.exe to communicate to your Enterprise server.
2. Add an exeption to your antivirus so it does not scan the java components on read. You can also temporarily disable your on-access scanner while you are using dynamic parameters.
