I'm not having any luck with the knowledgebase this moring, can anybody point me at a list of hardware drivers included with NW 6x?

I may be wrong, but I don't think Novell really publishes one. (couldn't find one my self either). Novell used to give you a list of all the files included in a support pack in the download page for the support pack, but they don't seem to be doing that anymore.

I do know the included drivers are pretty much all of the popular server grade hardware between 2k and May 2k5. You can just download SP3 and look inside the DRIVERS directory to see what is there. Keep in mind, .LAN are your NIC drivers and .HAM will be your controller drivers, and .CDM will be your device drivers.

The reason I ask is there's a guy in the Backup Exec forum trying to get an IBM tape library working on NW6. Was wondering if Novell might have provided a generic library driver since IBM didn't write one for that library.

arent you suppose to use backup exec's one
sure a message comes up asking

something like use ours (recommended)
use other (will cause you horrendous problems and we will give no support whatsoever as you didnt select above option)

I would say that's a backupExec issue. I mean, you'll have a .HAM driver for the SCSI Controller that the library is plugged into, but BackupExec will provide the driver for the device itself. I believe that you will need to download the library files from Veritas separately (not completely sure).

This may not be related, but it's a commmon mistake I find my junior engineers making every day.

Everyone is used to using the NWASPI module to gain access to the tape device on DAT and DLT drives. Because it would causing nothing but problems, people would unload the NWTAPE module and even go as far as to delete to prevent it from loading. Well, with these newer drive like LTO (or some other acronym I amnot thinking of), you need the NWTAPE module and the NWASPI module causing you nothing put problems.

Also, if I remember right, BackupExec requires you to purchase an additional license to utilize a tape library.

It's not a BE problem. Netware is not aware of the library. It sees the tape deck, but IBM has no Netware drivers for the library. List Devices only shows the deck.

Was just wondering if there might be a generic library driver, like NWTAPE is a generic deck driver. I'll tell the guy that Veritas may have a driver available for download.

Perhaps I'm not getting the big picture. Yes, there are drivers for the SCSI controller (loaded in Netware). You also must have some type of deck driver (loaded in Netware), I assume you would also need a library driver (loaded in Netware). Am I mistaken?

I've never been able to get a library working correctly on Netware, so I'm not that sure exactly what it takes.
