List of Functions 1

Is there a listing of available functions? For example, how would I know I could use onlastrecord in the formula? Where did that function come from?

I use Crystal 8.5 and they are listed in the Function Tree within the Formula Editor

Use the Help files. If you've got them installed using the Compiled HTML format (.chm), on the 'Contents' tab, everything is nicely grouped (Formulas, Functions, Operators, etc.). Everything you ever wanted to know about formulas/functions is right there, with an explanation, and usually an example of its use.

I don't think there's anything better than the Help function, if you've got it. Or look here and see what people are using.

I started off with the functions listed under 'Operations' and 'Functions', but soon gave up on them. (If anyone out there can follow the logic of what's there and what isn't, I'd be interested to hear it.)

It helps to give your Crystal version, since newer versions have extra options, extraa functions and some extra problems. I use Crystal 8.5, though we are currently upgrading to Crystal 10.

I agree on the Help. Many times the funtion tree does not provide enough information so I just click on the question mark (?) button get to the Help menu and go from there.

Under the index tab in the Help, if you enter Function (or Operator) to get a list of the functions (or operators) for both Crystal and Basic along with some good examples on it's use.

Of course, reading some of these forums provide excellent examples of real life uses of the function.

Hi Rae,
In the formula workshop, hit ctrl + space to bring up a small scrolling window of functions, custom functions (existing in the report) and operators listed alphabetically. Click esc to close the window. One caveat is that it doesn't provide the formatting display of the syntax.

Once you find the name of the function you want, click on the find function (binoculars) and search for the function or operator (also field or text). You will be taken to the function, custom function or operator.

Functions are listed in the formula editor, and your help system lists all functions, and Jacque's technique is useful.
