I want to view all users that are connected to Novell server
in some moment. How can I define which users are connected and which users aren't connected?

If you look in MONITOR on the server console (type LOAD MONITOR to load it), there is a connections section which details all of the logged in users. You cannot easily determine users who are not logged in unless you compare the logged in list with a list of your users.

If you can find it, there is an old Novell utility called "Onsite Admin Pro"... It makes this task much easier. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to find since Novell has removed it from their site.. If you email me, I can email a copy of it to you.

I have always used the DOS command line utility NLIST at a workstation:

NLIST USERS gives a list of users
NLIST USERS /A a list of looged in users.

NLIST.EXE normally resides in SYS:pUBLIC

I don't have a Netware 4.x server available here, but if memory serves, that is how it goes. NLIST /? for help.

Onsite Admin Pro

thats a blast from the past - what a stomping utility that was

was sat and watch a guy rconsole into 100 servers to type broadcast "blah blah"

one of these guy that if you said there is an easier way he would say "yes , i know and carry on"

he soon learned when he seen it in action

The thing that chaps my ass is that even on netWare 6.x, it's very difficult to do anything with the connections.. I mean, you have the Remote Manager where you can see the connections and see the volumes and files that are open, but it's still just as difficult to manage as if you were using Monitor.

Well Marvin, it may be klunky and inflexible but at least it's there right out of the box. And has been since at least 3.10, which is as far back as I go with Novell.

I wish some of those same features, including salvage, were available on Win based servers. Recycle bin uber alles.

My chapped ass has been saved by those utilities many times. Novell won the technology battle and lost the marketing war.
