We have a list which has a field called 'Project' which is just a single line of text.

I would like to convert this into a Lookup, to lookup another list o nthe site which holds a list of all Projects (instead of letting people type the project in)

How can I do this conversion?

I've searched and had no luck.

Hello,

If you go to Docuements and Lists, chose your list. Click on modify settings and columns, scroll down to views, click on the view name you have as default. When looking at the field Project does it say "Link to edit item"? if that is the case you will not be able to change that type to Lookup from within SharePoint. For some reason SharePoint locks that field from being changed or deleted. What you could do is to create a new column and chose the Lookup type and then chose to hide the one you are not able to change from the list.

I am not sure if you could somehow modify the column that has the "Link to edit item" in FrontPage.

Cheers,
Thomas
