You're spot on when you thought it was to do with your images in the banner. If you add them up they will give you a width of 726 pixels - and the page will not decrease in width any less than this. Either get rid of an image or two or reduce the width of them. Alternatively, you could try removing the spaces you placed between the images and this should then fit an 800x600 screen resolution - though probably wouldn't look very good.

I don't think it will be possible to remove any images, unfortunately. Is there a way to possibly have the main table "content" perhaps stretch to the same width as the pictures...but, most important is that the browser window resizes correctly.

Also, just below the top table (header) I have a grey table with the site map, contact etc. this table does not stretch to the same width as the table above and below it.

any suggestions?
