I installed Red Hat 7.3 on a Compaq Presario with the Compaq USB keyboard that came with it. Using the graphic installer windows. It turns out that I never had to touch the keyboard for this. Then, when I tried to reboot, it hung part way through the process, complaining about a secondary USB controller. Rebooting the machine with the USB keyboard removed and with a PS2 keyboard plugged in, I was able to boot with no problem.

The machine boots fine under Windows ME.

Is anyone aware of problems with the Compaq Presario, USB keyboards, and Linux?

thanks,

bob
