Linux website alias

I have a website running on an apache webserver that is using rPath linux. The website is currently at:

http://website.com/directory/

..but if I type in:

http://website.com

I want to be forwarded to:

http://website.com/directory/

..how do I set that up on an apache webserver? I know how to do it in Microsoft IIS, but not on an apache webserver.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
