Linux VPN Server CFG

Ok, this is my first attempt at setting up a linux box to act as a VPN server. Does ne1 know where to even begin? I plan on using RH 7.2/.3. The pupose:
I have a broadband internet connection at work..(I am using a router.) I also have a broadband internet connection at the house...again, using a router. I know that I will have to open up the port on the router. That isn't the problem. I need to know how to actually set the linux box up as the vpn authentication server. is there any free open source software in the world that can automate it? or should I just use ol' win2k server? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

If you use Mandrake or SUSE, you don't have to build a kernel with IPsec like you will with Redhat.
FreeS/WAN is also on the distros.

An easy alternative if you have some latitude with your decision is to look at CIPE:

It's not as full featured(or as complicated) as ipsec
but it is well done.
