I installed linux mandrake onto a computer i built. when i i was promted to test the video it came up a dialog box that was full of choped up words. I was told it was a video test asking if I could view everything fine. but i couldn't and i tried to reinstall it and it still didn't work. i am out of option and i need help. I have a genaric 8mb video card with a SiS chipset. can anyone help me. thanks

If it's the sis6326 then you do have a problem. The sis6326 chipset weather it's on the motherboard or an AGP/PCI card they all do not run properly. The best thing to do if you have it as a AGP/PCI is replace the card with a S3 or Matrox these cards are well supported.
Simon Jones
sijones_uk@yahoo.com
<a href= Allandale Youth Works
God am good!!! and good lookin :)

FYI: you can use just about ANY vid card with Linux.....just don't use the SiS modems; they're the only ones I've heard aren't compatible
-Robherc
robherc@netzero.net
SearchMaster Interface...11-in-1
Wanting to learn Assembler; please e-mail me any tutorials or links for it that are useful to you :)
