Linux Setting

We're about to start a re-image project and want to begin using Zen 4 imaging. The way our DHCP server is configured is that a capital alpha letter has to be the first character of the computer name. We don't control it locally so I have to find a work around. I'm a total linux newbie and am having trouble finding out how to set the computer name with the settings.txt file. Any suggestions?

look on cool solutions for some of the scripting articles. There are a variety of things you can do.
Also, you create a policy in zen which names machines based on some basic rules. Nothing too fancy, but it works. So (for ex) when a new box is booted on the network, you could set a policy which says "image it with this image, and name it <name><os-version>" and just let PXE do the rest.
Be sure to look up the hdparm settings and make the changes in your linux.2 file. This will be complex the first time (there is a great step by step cool solution on it though.) but will speed your imaging by about 8X.
