Linux Server - Win2K connection timeout

I am having an ongoing problem with several machines (both Win2k and WinNT4) that are connected to a Linux server. The server holds data files (text format) written to from the Windows machines. After writing for 1/2 hour or more, the Win machines seem to lose the connection to the server. I started out chasing this from a Windows perspective, but now think there may be some type of Linux problem (timeout setting, etc.). Unfortunately, I have no details on the Linux server side of things, as someone else set this up.

Please see thread616-348250 for more info.

Any help greatly appreciated!!
