Hi there!

I am having trouble printing from my new linux server to my old SCO-Unix server.

Sco version 3.2v5.0.5
Linux version: Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3 - running cups-lpd

The printer on my sco unix is installed on my parallel port. From the linux box I Install the printer from the gui interface printconf-gui. The remote SCO lpd printer accepts remote requests and remote printing services are enabled. Both machines have records on /etc/hosts , /etc/hosts.lpd , /etc/hosts.equiv All well so far...
When I try to sent a printing from the linux box to SCO-Unix server, all goes well, and from the web interface of cups the job seems that is completed. From the other part, on the SCO-Unix server I don't have anything on my logs /var/spool/lp/logs/requests, and the job never reaches the printer. Local printing works just fine and the files I sent are shown on logs/requests log file.

/usr/lib/lpd -ld is running!!!

Is there a way that I could see debug logs from lpd?

Do you have a tip?

Thanks in advance.

The entries in /etc/hosts and /etc/hosts.lpd should have allowed this to succeed. I would try this as a non-root user on the LINUX end, but as a user with the same name as exists on the SCO system. Have you enabled remote printing on the SCO box? (mkdev rlp).
Try a non-printing command to make sure the SCO system truly trusts the commands coming from the LINUX box. For instance, on LINUX, try "rsh SCOBOX who".

Hi there, thank you for the reply!

Yes remote commands are working and the .rhosts file is set properly.

as root

and as a normal user which also exists on the SCO System.

printer lp0 is idle. enabled since Jan 01 00:00
[euro2002@kokossrv euro2002]$

still not working :( the printer is not responding

(mkdev rlp) Remote printing is already installed.
The thing is that I can't see any logs on the SCO system.

Is there a way to see some logs?

on /var/spool/lp/logs show only logs for the local printing
on /var/spool/lpd/ only exist the lock files of the attached printers.

Thank you again for your reply.
