Linux Redhat

Please Help. I'm currently involved in a college project which involves me building a Web Server. i have cosen to use Linux RedHat as my Operating System and as my Server Software. i haven't got much of a understanding on the subject. i am hoping that someone can help me and tell me the reasons why someone would choose Linux Redhat over other software. please when explaining don't talk in great detail as i haven't got much knowledge on the subject.

Just to clarify:
The operating system you have chosen is Linux.
The distribution is from Redhat.
The web server software will be Apache.
