Are you required to run a Host agent for everything to work?

I'm not running a host agent on my Linux redhat box.
Do I need it?

No. The host agent allows for ease of administration only. You will have to manually register this host which is a pain and you will not be able to see host information from the Array.

Will you be able to add it to zones and such in Navi. I mean you have too right. So will it show up under hosts once registered?

zonning is configured in the switch FC, so if the HBA is logged to the fabric, then no problem to make the necesary zones. After the zone config (and activate them) you need to register the new WWN in the clarrion, so a host name is given and you can put it in a Storage Group.

Cheers.

I'm sorry.. I meant to the storage group in navi. Yep.. Makes sence. Thanks

Now I just need to figure out how to operate linux to see the stuff.. I'm not sure how to mount and format the drives.

cat /proc/scsi/scsi

dmesg

man fdisk

man mkfs

man tune2fs

Cheers.
