Hi,

My linux server has stopped starting up. It goes so far as bringing up the loopback address, and then stops in it's tracks. I had some problems disconnecting the ISDN connection before it started misbehaving, and had to turn the PC off by the power switch as it wouldn't shut down. Disc checking at boot doesn't bring up any problems.

Can anyone help?
Thanks

Richard

The next step in the boot process is to bring up eth0. I would start with the NIC configs. You may have to use your boot floppy.

Where do I go when I am in using single user mode? Do I have to disable to network card - how do I do that at command line.

Thanks

If you suspect the NIC is hanging the server up, enter single user mode and disable the NIC by editing the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file...

ONBOOT=no

You can do the same with the loopback adapter (ifcfg-lo) if you need to.
