I'm running Suse Professional 8.2 and I just bought a western digital external portable USB/Firewire combo drive and I'm having trouble getting the device to be recognized in Suse. On the box itself the drive doesn't state either way whether it's compatible or not. Any help very much appreciated!

I already tried Sony USB floppy drive and Siemens Handphone USB data cable on RH 9 and Suse 9.
Both USB device work well on RH9 and Suse 9.
Good Luck....:)

Another handy link is If the info is not there, it may not exist yet -- but I have had FW disks working in modern (with the last year) 2.4-series systems on PowerPC hardware with no problem. No reason why it shouldn't work for x86.

Cheers,

~kj
