I am new to Linux but am ready to start making the switch. I am IT for a company that is willing to let me start making the switch slowly. I first want to start off with loading Ubuntu on machines the connect directly to a windows 2003 terminal server.

What I would like these Ubuntu machines to do is when it starts up have it automatically load rdesktop with the servername and certain options like not being able to minimize the remote desktop back to ubuntu and not being able to close the rdesktop or if so have that be the only application on the desktop and the only app runnable.

If this was a perfect world all this would be possible. But I might be asking for to much.

Any ideas/suggestions?

I've seen this done with VMWare and SELinux. The VMWare loaded Terminal Service vice RDesktop, but the concept is the same. The VMs were locked, so that even if the user could make a change, it was gone once the system was rebooted.

You might take a look at Linux Kiosk implementations.
